Busy Times!

Greetings to all! The Mitchell household has been a very busy place lately. I'm surprised that we're all still standing. This past week has had a lot in store for us. Last weekend we were visited by Jim's mother, grandparents, and his niece and nephew to help us celebrate Kallie's third birthday. They arrive Friday afternoon and left Sunday morning. We enjoyed the time spend with them and we very thankful they made the trip. Last Saturday, we held Kallie's birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese. People had forwarned me to get ready for the noise, and boy were they right! Lots going on and lots of kids around! There were three other parties going on at the same time as Kallie's, plus others who were just in on their own to eat and play. I think Kallie was a little shell-shocked at first, but after a while she really started enjoying herself. We had about 31 people at her party, so we had a good turnout and appreciated them all for coming and loving on Kallie. On Wed., Kallie enjoyed her first round of trick-or-treating. This is the first year we have done it, and she definitely was loving the concept of being able to just hold out her bucket and have people put candy in it! By the end, she didn't want Jim going to ring the doorbell with her anymore! Little Miss Independent! She went as Snow White...the blonde version because I didn't want to spend the money on a wig!

Friday was the biggest day for us as Kallie went and had her eye surgery. We had to be at the hospital by 7:00 to register and I anticipated a long wait, but she was the first one on the list for her doctor, so Kallie was taken back about 8:15 to be put under and then we were called to the recovery area about 9:45. I have decided that she better not need any more surgeries while I'm pregnant, because my emotional state is not in balance right now! I had my game face on the whole time Kallie was with us, but then I lost it as soon as the anesthesiologist carried her away. Quite the helpless feeling! Then I had a difficult time going to see her afterwards while she was still under! She had some blood-stained tear sitting by her eye, so that got me a little bit. We had a rough time the rest of the day on Friday. She was nauseous the whole day and just wanted to sleep, so it was hard to get liquids into her. I felt so bad for her. But, thankfully by yesterday morning, Saturday, she was ready to roll again. She doesn't have any protective eyewear to stop herself from touching her eyes, so that is a little bit of a challenge. They are also very red and it can be hard to look at them sometimes! Time will tell now as to whether or not the surgery was a success. We had noticed a difference, but we don't want to get our hopes up yet. He wants her to continue wearing her glasses right now. So that's the long summary of the Mitchells. Hope you're all doing well!

Hello to all! I know, it's a miracle that I'm actually updating this thing. Life has found us pretty busy lately. Or when I do have the time, I'm not very good about feeling like sitting in front of the computer and typing. Things are pretty good here. Jim and I found out a couple weeks ago that our second addition is going to be a boy! We are very excited. I have even purchased a few boy outfits already! If it were up to Jim, I think the poor boy would be dressed in soccer gear for every outfit! Kallie seems to be pretty excited. I have been feeling pretty good so far. I definitely can't complain. Except for my weight, which isn't all a pregnancy issue! I have been on Fall Break today and yesterday. Always nice to have a break during the week! It has helped to have a couple extra days to start getting things ready for Kallie's birthday party next weekend. We are celebrating at Chuck E. Cheese. Jim continues to be busy with work and has enjoyed being part of a Thursday night volleyball league. He says that he "misses" playing with me....is that possible??!! The weather around here has been crazy. I think we've had a little bit longer of a summer than I care for. There were way too many days in the 90's . I hope we're past that. We are still seeing days off and on in the 80's.

Not much else going on here. I hope you are all doing well. I have posted pics of Kallie enjoying a Dunkin' Doughnut(just opened up nearby), having her first dentist visit(she did a great job), and being a little model poser!

A Good Time at the Zoo

Over Labor Day weekend we were able to spend a day out at the zoo. That was a fun time and I am posting some pics of our time there. Jim and I also celebrated our 5-yr. anniversary last Friday. We enjoyed a nice dinner out at a restaurant located on a marina. Didn't know those existed in IN! The weather was beautiful so we spent a little time watching the sailboats take off and enjoy the water. That was the first "real" date the two of us had been on in almost 3 years! I don't do a very good job of finding a babysitter for Kallie! Things are pretty good around here. I am approaching 18 weeks in my pregnancy. We will find out what we're having the first week of Oct. I'm actually looking forward to that. The first time around I didn't want to know! Kallie is growing up quickly. It's so fun to watch her play, as she has quite the imagination! Jim and I have just been busy with our work routines. I think I'm enjoying my job a little more than he is right now! The joys of being a manager! I hope you are all doing well. We love and miss you all!

Kallie fun

Sorry for the delay in updating lately. Things are fully underway again here in the Mitchell household. I started teaching again about two weeks ago. Hard to believe school has already started. Where did the summer go???!! Jim has been busy at work. The warm months are always their busiest months. We purchased a new bedroom set for what will be Kallie's room at the beginning of the year. We are happy with it. She is having a princess theme room. I never thought I would have a daughter with that type of room, but I guess that's what she really wanted. I think it has something to do with our trip to Disneyworld! She ended up with what I think was her first bout of the flu yesterday, so we're in the recover process today. I have yet to ever see her that sick before, so it wasn't much fun! For those that don't know, she will be having eye surgery the first Friday in Nov. It will be interesting to see the results. They will be fixing two muscles in each eye. Hopefully I will do okay with all of it...and of course hopefully she will too!! I'm willing to do whatever is best for her.

Enjoy the random pics of her. We had some fun one day with my wedding veil that I found in a closet! I think it made Jim a little nervous though!

Summer Fun

Hey all! Sorry for the delay in posting. I've been needing some posting material! Kallie and I recently spent some busy time back in MN to celebrate my mom's 60th birthday. It was a good time with family. Kallie really enjoyed being around all her cousins up there. I managed to be able to squeeze in a little time visiting a friend of mine that lives down in the cities. Stan was willing to drop us off early down in the cities before our flight on the day we left, and my friend Liz was willing to take Kallie and me to the airport later that day. The visit was way too quick, but I had the opportunity to meet her 1 year old son for the first time, so it was well worth it. The flights back were more of an experience than I cared for. We had to connect in Chicago and we almost missed that second flight back home! We were in the wrong gate area in O'Hare, which is a nightmare when you realize where the correct gating area is.... on the other side of the airport! Not fun at massive O'Hare. We made it though with about 2 minutes to spare, but then when we arrived back in Indy, we had no luggage! It arrived the next day at 3 p.m.! Thankfully it happened arriving home and not going away! The pics are from our time with family. Enjoy!

Visitor and Fun

We had another fun visitor this past weekend when my college friend Rebecca joined us for an extended weekend. Her and I took Kallie to the zoo on Saturday...good time. We also enjoyed having a bonfire in our pit and making s'mores. I also included a pic of Kallie enjoying her first ear of corn for the season. Yum, yum! That stuff's addicting! We had it two nights in a row. We have a local farmer that sets up a farmer's market on a road corner and he sells delicious produce. We always look forward to his stand being ready to go every summer!

A Visit From Family

Stan, Heather, Micah, and Heather's parents stopped in for a visit this past weekend. We enjoyed having them stop by on their way out to the east coast. Micah is such a cutie. We have not seen him in 6 months and were so excited to see how he's growing. The pics are of the two kids. Kallie of course enjoyed the company and was all about holding Micah. One of the photos is a pic I just took of Kallie getting a hold of some lipstick. I guess I can't sell that Mary Kay product now!!

Greetings! I wanted to post some pics of Kallie ...again! Things have been pretty good around here. I had to take a class this past week and have another one this upcoming week. I am gettin close to having to renew my teaching license and have to have 6 credits before I can. I took two computer classes. Hopefully the second one will be as easy as the first! The pics are of Kallie enjoying her new "pool" and sporting her Mickey Mouse ears she picked up at Disney.
