New Arrival!

I'm proud to announce that the Mitchells have welcomed Liam Thomas to the family this past week. He was born Wednesday, February 13 at 1:45 p.m. He was a smaller one, weighing in at 6 lbs. 12.8 oz., but was still 22 in. long. We went into the hospital Tues. night after talking with my doctor at my appointment. She gave me the option to induce and I hesitate for quite some time since I hadn't hit my due date yet, but I also was interested in make sure my doctor was the one who was going to deliver him. She was on call Wed. Pretty pathetic reason to induce, huh? The labor process was much more bearable this time around, which I'm very thankful for. I was pretty quick to get the epidural going this time too, so that probably helped!! Liam had more complications during labor though than Kallie ever did, due to the fact that he was having issues with his cord. He heart rate kept dropping off, which made me nervous and also caused me to be monitored very closely. I thought I was going to have to have a c-section because of it, but I didn't. It turns out that he had the cord wrapped under his arpit so he was pinching it off! The pushing was also better this time around as well. With Kallie, I pushed for 2 hours. With Liam, I pushed through 8 contractions, approximately 15 min., and he was out! Thank the Lord! We left the hospital on Friday afternoon. A little later than anticipated becuase his bilirubin levels were elevated so they needed to do more lab work, but all was okay! Kallie is enjoying being a big sister and loves on him constantly. Thanks to all for your prayers and support. Please continue with it as we transition to four!
