Prayer Request

I have been bouncing back and forth the past few days as to whether or not I should put this entry on our blog. I had told myself not to "burden" others with our issues, but then God ONCE AGAIN reminded me of the verse in the Bible that talks about His power being made perfect in our weakness, so I decided that I better not mess with what the Big Guy is telling me! We would love to ask for your prayers regarding the following issue.

As many of you know, about 7 years or so ago(man, I can't believe it's been that long) Jim had gone to see a neurologist for some double vision issues he was having at the time and some other neurological problems. The doc at that time had diagnosed him with "probable" MS. What that basically meant was that on a scale of 4 points, he met 3 out of the 4 points to gain the diagnosis. The one point that was missing was that he had a clean MRI of the brain. Shortly after that we ended up moving down here and his symptoms kind of seemed to fall to the wayside! He still stuck with going to see a neurologist down here to basically check in with him and see what he had to say. The doctor down here met Jim pretty briefly and pretty much shrugged him off and told him that he didn't have MS and to come back if anything other symptoms seemed to appear. We were pretty excited about that and had written the issue off as a muscular issue and he was put on a muscle relaxer.

Unfortunately, a few weeks ago all the issues that he had back then have started to return(double vision with halos, numbness in the feet and hands occasionally, coordination problems). We of course have been a little disappointed by this and had hoped that chapter was done. So I think our mindset is to once again lean towards the MS because it is something that can phase in and out like this. He went ahead and made an appointment to see a neurologist again (a different one this time) on Aug. 18, the day before his birthday. We would love any prayers you all could send our way regarding this manner. There is currently no cure for MS and it is something that can take so very many different forms. For some it can be very debilitating and for others it can be just a slight nuisance that phases in and out. There is usually some scarring that is done to the nervous system every time it rears its head though. They basically just treat the symptoms, from what I understand, and that usually requires self-injections. I am very anxious to see what this doctors says. Please pray for his wisdom in this matter. Maybe there are some alternative medicines to this that have been successful. I would love to know if any of you are aware of any!! I'll drag Jim to them if I have to!

I will keep you posted as to how things develop. August 18 seems like an eternity away! And then my guess is that they will probably retest him again...maybe another spinal tap(poor Jim) and MRI. Who knows.

We again appreciate the prayers and hopefully if we all do it hard enough, maybe we can make another miracle happen!!! Love to you all and I'll keep you informed!

I just happened upon your blog when I was following up on Kayley's progress. So sorry to hear about Jim's health. We will certainly keep him and your family in our prayers as you look for answers. We know that God is in control and will not give you more then you can handle. Yesterday I looked at my calendar and saw that is was Britt and Jim's birthday today so I prayed for him yesterday not even knowing about his doctor appt., however, God knew and laid it on my heart to pray for you guys! Isn't that awesome! Love, Pam & Greg Gackle
